Seven Stills reached out with this sketched idea, and gave the choice to use it as inspiration or try something new entirely. Since this bottle was a collaboration with HenHouse and the drink was an Oyster Stout whiskey, the art had to include HenHouse's chicken logo and an ocean/beach/water theme.
CLIP Studio was used for creating the sketches. Since the screenprint process was limited to 5 colors, each sketch made extensive use of halftones to maximize the look of each color. Sketch #1 was a refined version of the art director's pitch, and it ended up being chosen for the final art.
Final art was illustrated in CLIP Studio, then each color layer vectorized in Adobe Illustrator. The final deliverable was a vector file.
Daniel Castro Maia (he/him) is a Brazilian illustrator and designer based in Denver, CO. By day, Daniel is the lead graphic designer at REP Fitness. By night, he's a freelance illustrator. On weekends, he's a couch potato. Daniel studied Illustration at California College of the Arts in San Francisco.
